Moneta

If a low-maintenance lifestyle in the country is what you want, Moneta is for you. An unincorporated community in Bedford County, Moneta offers easy living in an area surrounded by nature.

Located along Smith Mountain Lake, the community is made up of around 8,600 residents.

Originally, the town ran along the main traffic route – until a new bypass rerouted vehicles away from the town. New developments are intent on bringing back Moneta’s homey, old-town feel.

Real estate

Prospective buyers can expect to find plenty of waterfront properties in Moneta. This Smith Mountain Lake neighborhood has many single-family homes with easy lake access – some are literally steps away from the water. Some homes also feature remote control boat lifts.

Ranch homes can be seen everywhere, as well as homes inspired by Colonial Revival architecture. Other traditional-style houses are also available in Moneta.

There is plenty of raw land in this community, including acreage suitable as equestrian, farming or recreational properties.

Of the several townhomes and condos in Moneta, most offer amazing views of Smith Mountain Lake.

Activities and attractions

  • Feeling a bit nostalgic? A visit to Mayberry Drive-In & Entertainment might just do the trick. Take the entire family or your significant other out on a date in this unique location. This drive-in theater opened in 2008 and continues to attract locals and visitors.

  • Fine wine and a spectacular view—now who wouldn’t want that? Ramulose Ridge Vineyards has a wonderful selection of wines and cigars. It is also an excellent spot for special events especially wedding shoots.  The vineyards’ reds and whites are available for tasting daily, from 1 to 6 p.m.

  • Bernard’s Landing is a beautiful waterfront resort for people of all ages. Interesting spots with water-based activities includeSpike’s Prime Time Fishin’ and the various marinas in the area.
